Yoshinori Ono & Katsuhiro Harada: twitter rivalry

Street Fighter creator Yoshinori Ono and Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada have been going after each other since the announcement of Street Fighter X Tekken/Tekken X Street Fighter. They've chronicled this rivalry over twitter for fans of both franchises to follow.

Rumours of Yoshinori Ono's death have spread all over the internet as he was suddenly taken ill, I should know I'm still waiting for my signed Streetfighter x Tekken game I won from a competition :( Three weeks after his release from hospital, the approachable face of Capcom adding personality and humour to the corporation, clears up the misunderstanding.

Even tho Ono has recovered fully his sudden illness in April 2012 was both unexpected and very serious. Capcom’s reluctance to issue a public statement only warranted rumors further. Ono's first project was a wrestling game called Muscle Bomber, soon after this he had his first contact with Street Fighter, the one-on-one fighting game series that would become the definitive game on his CV.

Katsuhiro Harada is a producer with Namco Bandai. He is best known for his work on the Tekken series & Soul Caliber VI. He even did the voice of Marshall Law in Tekken 2 & 4

It's refreshing to see a company rivalry with light hearted shenanigans between easy going Ono and bad ass Harada.

To catch up on all that's happened so far check this comprehensive article Kotaku put up detailing it all. Also be sure to follow Ono and Harada's twitter feed.

Tekken Tag Tournmanet 2 tour London GamerBase HMV

Me and Ronnie are Team Tekken!
Namci Bandai decided to do a last minute tour of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 around the county, starting first with London then to Manchester & Glasgow. Armed with only their their game dev's and 'We are Tekken' background drop it's all they needed, come 6pm their was already a crowd waiting to play at Gamer Base HMV in Trocadero.

Scheduled from 6-12 midnight some of these hard core Tekken fans stayed that long waiting in line to play or cheer on their mates or even strangers. As far as I was concerned, if you played Anna you were support from me.
No Fifa please :S

Having a last effort of pulling down all the Fifa posters as to not confuse the gamers, it was a constant game jam - I had to retreat to the over 18's room for air and rest my fingers. The smell of sweaty gamers engulfed Gamerbase!

I got to see the hyped up Snoop Dogg arena, him sitting on his throne with his women whilst you hear his special song play. I was impressed with a certain teams timing with combos and tags but unfortunately they dissapeared by the time I got close enough to talk to them ^^; Should of worn heels!
Had PR gurus Hollie B & Joseph mingling with fans and other fellow game industry people running to and fro taking interviews and photos but I doubt they got a shot of this criminal who hogged the game hub I was queuing at! this fiend never tapped any of his team mates in which rendered the experience pointless So if you see him point and shout 'Game hog' also he lost a lot so you know who you are and I will annihilate you if you ever let me get on the bloody game pad.

Sick gaming at 8bit Ego x Capcom: Batteries Not Included

you plug your stick at the front
29th April 02 Academy, Islington

With much excitement me and my gaming chicks entered another world, we had got tickets to a highly anticipated tournament in promotion of the new Streetfighter x Tekken game. 8bit Ego x Capcom: Batteries Not Included being my first tournament we walked into a tight knit community of hardcore beat em’ up fans with pure awe in our eyes.
one of the organisers and an artist at work

Streetfighter x Tekken is a crossover fighting game developed by Capcom, placing Tekken characters in the Streetfighter 2D style of fighting with only the movement of forwards , backwards & jump. Like the recent Marvel vs Capcom you can play two characters  as well as have two players battling on the same team, one controlling each character, and face off in four player matches. Released 9th March 2012 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360. Also scheduled for release on 11th of May 2012 for Pc users on Steam.

I don’t use the term ‘hardcore’ loosely, everyone had their own gaming stick, no stick no play!  You also had to register and pay a fighting fee of £8, the spectators only paid £2.50 for handling of a free ticket (not really free then is it?). I have no qualms what-so-ever though as amongst the buzz of the gamers I did receive goody bag (sponsored by good ole’ Cyber candy and Capcom) - I even got free Dominoes Pizza ^^

Gaming what a load of pixels!

You had a bar to quench your thirst be it Red Bull or Gaymers (pun totally intended :D ) with ongoing artists drawing on stage, continuous group battling simultaneously and also a raffle for a crate load of Cybercandy goodies and your own Streetfighter x Tekken stick ! Also following the name we had a lot of 8 bit remixed music getting everyone into the mood, the beat dropping before fists started pounding.

me and my crew

After people’s stats were calculated the smalls groups surrounding the 4 split screens gradually moved to the main stage and everything was being filmed live onto the big screen, tension was building but the trash talk was a bare minimum if anyone was instigating it was me :D

Narrowed down to the final 8, who one of which won the arcade stick, it weedled down to the ultimate winner who received £500 which was the victorious Taaha Ibrahim!

Don’t let the rain deter you from having fun: a cheap day out, make new friends and get your game on!

I won the gammmmmmmmeeeeee XD

So last minute I entered the 'strike a pose' contest, basically you pick your favourite character from either Street fighter or Tekken (in honour of the new Streetfighter x Tekken game) and you do one of their winning poses. Since I chose the feisty Anna Williams, I thought I had to do her infamous breaking the enemies back pose, she doesn't just beat you in battle she humiliates you too.

Since I didn't have a red Chinese dress I decided to do an alternate colour Anna and since we get judged on costume, competitiveness and background I borrowed my friend's boyfriend's back and even used the kennel room at work (after hours!) to make it really standout.

To be brutally honest I didn't think I'd win but I wanted to try and with alot of family problems looming I wanted to distract myself, in normal circumstances I wouldn't have bothered ppl to do it, I've lost so much recently, it just showed who are my friends and how patient they are to vote for me everyday for a week - my homies you done me proud. My friend who got her American bf and all his mates to vote for me, all the Danish gamers I know, the English crew and even my Japanese posse - lub you ! Also a shout out to my dad for never believing in me I'm sure that made me work even harder to do well.

ironically I was waiting till midnight for the results and in all the excitement about 10 past midnight a friend from Denmark was like, by the way you one, check it out and posted the link.Lol and this guy didn't even vote for me, I'd slag him off but he alerted me to my glorious win so I'll let him off...this time ;)

Check my winning submission for the ‘Streetfighter x Tekken’ x marks the spot winning pose, expect lots of Cosplay from this chick! Yes after a solid week of campaigning, I got lots of votes and came second in votes but won 1st place in the Tekken Team strike a pose contest.

Coming soon: the swag I won
