Mayamada hosts latest GamePad event to follow up their highly successful Frozen Yogurt Party in 2013, read my review here.

Gamers, music lovers and everyone in between is invited to join mayamada for this one day party at the Petit Miracle Hub, West 12 Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush (Central Line).

Resident DJ team Tigerblood will keep the music going throughout, featuring tracks from video game inspired hip-hop artist Mega Ran.

You will be able to race against your friends around Mushroom Kingdom in Mario Kart Wii U, or get into the fighting spirit with the new and frantic Super Smash Bros Wii U. Be sure to bring your A game as prizes will be up for grabs...but only if you can beat the mayamada co-founders at the end of the night.

Two lucky people will be drawn at random and face off for the chance to win a selection of mayamada goodies.

For the low tech gamers, Giant Jenga will be making a return at GamePad! Where you’ll be able to battle it out for the title of Jenga King or Queen. Last time I made it to the semi finals, let's see if I can take the crown this time !

Shoppers are welcome too as we'll have our full range of original anime inspired clothing and comics on sale with selected t-shirts and sweatshirts available at promotional prices! Your sweet tooth will be taken care of, because not only will there be amazing cupcakes handed out to early arrivals, our popup shop will also be fully stocked with delicious Samurai Chef chocolate bars.

Available in three flavours - Crunchy Noodle, Cherry Blossom and Green Tea - these bars were a massive hit during their debut at the London Anime & Gaming Convention where they sold out in just two days.

Mayamada’s 2nd Games Night at Tutti Fruitti

As you may have seen in our previous coverage, Mayamada held polls for best flavour in a fight of all combinations for their latest event at frozen yogurt shop Tutti Fruitti. Pistachio & honey won so you got to taste this flavour just for just one day. The subtle flavours worked well for the heat wave not leaving a super sweet after taste perfect for the coming summer (hopefully soon). As you walk in to a line of people waiting patiently for their assorted concoctions at the yogurt bar Tutti fruiti.

London's Biggest Frozen Yogurt Party

Mayamada is teaming up with Tutti Frutti.frozen yogurt (Bedford st) the UK's tastiest frozen yogurt company to bring you a treat filled day for fun lovers only on Saturday 13th April from 3pm!

Love mango and chocolate? In the same cup? Then you're in luck....and a little weird. This and many other combinations will be available plus a brand new combination will be unveiled for one day only.

Once you've had your favourite flavour, head downstairs where you'll be able to check out the mayamada pop up shop featuring their fantastic range of anime inspired t-shirts, new comic, snapback caps plus the first showing of their brand new 2013 hoodie.

Things will quickly turn competitive with lively video gaming sessions during the afternoon open to people of all shapes, sizes and hand-eye coordination levels. Race around Mushroom Kingdom in the Mario Kart tournament or engage in fruit based violence in the Fruit Ninja tournament. With prizes for the victors be sure you bring your competitive streak with you. Capping the event off will be the return of the giant Jenga tournament that was a huge hit at the 2012 event. Players will compete in fast paced rounds for the chance to be crowned Jenga King or Queen. Mayamada Cosplay Dodgeball Update!

 

Now in collaboration with Animepicks :D I can't believe it was November last year I went to one of their free anime screenings and chatted to the organisers randomly now we're doing events together, makes me pleased to know my PR skills are getting better and working with a great brand as a result of it :)

Mayamada launch new t-shirt line at Tutti Fruitti

If your an avid convention/expo goer you would have come across the British- Jap designs of Mayamada. Clothing range come manga - they are making a line of clothes to help fund their own manga and are even expanding upon the characters before they release it. Mayamada are hosting a series of quirky events to get people to check out their designs and have a laugh too. I've been to a past anime screening of Steamboy, in an usual venue, with a great vibe & free popcorn and prizes too :D

They recently launched a new range of t-shirts and hats at Tutti Frutti Covent Garden. Nigel, Lau & Adam hosted a great night of retro tunes, connect 4, Jenga touranments with great atmosphere. London Anime Con 5: Highlights

 June/July London Anime Con is upon us and the ques have formed, discounts have been announced and guests have been secured. All you need is a stop watch to see if they weren’t lying about the minimum fifteen minute wait in the queue. Queuing from noon on Saturday 30th June, we only waited ten minutes! You win this time LAC.

Beyond the reception of the Rocket (part of London Metropolitan University) was the bar, games room, small stage, DDR area at the back and anime screening room showing the classics Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, K-On! and much more. Games room kept to a retro feel with SNES & PSOnes littered everywhere with the original Street Fighter & Mario Kart - strangely there were no females in sight. Amongst the space were independent artists, a raffle table and the Brony stall.














‘Brony’ was a new term to me and I did not hesitate in finding out what it was all about. This is a term typically used on male viewers/fans of the 2010 reboot of My Little Pony show or franchise. They do not give in to the hype that males aren’t allowed to enjoy things that may be intended for females. Brony = Bro + Pony, simples! They were promoting the first UK Brony event in Manchester with special guest John De Lancie, from 18th-19th August for more details go to www.bronyuk.org.
We came across our friends Mayamada handing out free cupcakes to all their fans, Destiny Blue manga artist & Jewellery maker, Aid for Japan and came across a business card for Manga social night www.mangasocial.net on Keroko James’s (www.neokeroko.com) stall as she diligently drew a manga portrait for a cute cosplaying couple.

The entire bustle was moving towards the upstairs, I caught Kimono Time performing some energetic moves – phew how did her makeup stay flawlessly on after that workout? This was just a warm up for Kelsey, the Youtube sensation singing and dancing to English, Japanese & Korean music later on in the afternoon.

The opening show gave us a glimpse of all the things to look forward to at LAC5, Then Cinnamon Purin (a troupe of dancing maids) Jess and Becki both did some fierce solo dancing and also explained the use of fellow supporters dancing at them to encourage and heighten moral, ending with a warmly welcomed lesbian dance getting people riled up for the Otaku Fashion show.

After some delay and plugging for people go to the Alcon Q&A and pub quiz downstairs I had decided to pounce on some unsuspecting cosplayers, one of which was Esti Licious. Anyone who used the sticker booth machine at Cyber Candy at HYPER JAPAN this February would have seen photos of her everywhere wearing her magnificent Sailor Moon cosplay. Finding out she wasn’t a pre-made model for the machine I asked her about her time at LAC5, she was in fact to be interviewed on stage before the Otaku Fashion show!

Discussing her favourite cosplays and her professional seamstress business, people didn’t waste time in asking her for cosplay tips ways on making fully moving wings with the help of metal wiring & expanding foam.  After 4pm people had all accumulated around the main stage and standing space was scarce as so many people were looking forward to the highly anticipated Otaku Fashion show. Showcasing Wing, Finny Attridge, Sah Starr, the Spirit Models (professional alternative models in the latex outfits can’t miss them), Cinnamon Purin and many aspiring cosplayers.

 At the end photographers got a chance to get group shots of everyone together at the end , we got to see a range of Lolita’s from sweet to Gothic, some steam punk male & females, some Kimonos, Sailor Moon ensembles, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil & Harajuku style!

Free Anime Screening or April Fools Joke? Anna Pacquin voicing a Manchurian, that must a joke

Overall a great experience! The cinema itself was hidden away in some seedy alleyway passed some funky industrial estate and dodgey graffiti but after realising the owner was late to open the premises rather than it being an April Fools prank. We all enjoyed wondering around the Cinema.

A friend came across a free anime screening near Loughbourgh Junction station!I have no idea where it is and due to the victoria line being closed and South Eastern trains being non-exsistant but thanks to a friend and her kind dad I got a lift there today and got to enjoy a great anime movie called Steam boy.

The story was a little confusing but loved the basis of it being in London and the awful Manchurian accents. Patrick Stewat did us proud! Liked the silly British humour added in too.

Amongst people mingling, playing on DS’s and drinking at the bar, you even had card games, free popcorn and a raffle (no i didn’t win :( epic fail)

The only thing I didn’t like about this event was Anna Paquin’s voice acting and that ain’t Mayamada’s fault XD There next event will be a picnic in Hyde Park, check out their blog for more details but dodge ball in cosplay sounds good to me. For more photos of this event check out my tumblr!
