Snowy Lane Luxury Mince Pies (from Lidl)
After all the hype over these specific brand of mince pies in 2014, I was able to procure two boxes in early December. Quoted by Which? as the best brand of Mince pies to buy. Snowy Lane Luxury Mince Pies (from Lidl) will you out do the others?
Appearance
They have changed the packaging since last year, now in a posh looking box with see through window. The holly leaf has now become a star. It has the standard mince pie look with a star pattern on top. Lots of sugar was on top to create the snowy look.
The First Bite
The Mince itself was mild, but the overwhelming taste of orange engulfed my tongue. The smell lept at your nostrils once crunching into it. and from each pie varied in quantity, once pie had lots and one was half empty.
Price
6 for £1.15
Conclusion
Standard size, overwhelming taste, I tried two batches and this is the new recipe. Unless your a citrus fanatic i think this pies are not so great. Not that sweet, even drowning it in cream didnt mute the orange taste.
1/5 So much promise so much Dissapoint!

The Last Pie standing
Now before you think I've gone mince pie mad, it's now January and I stumbled across another mince pie. I couldn't pass of another opportunity since it looked so appetising!
First Impressions
This is a freshly baked luxury mince pie from Lidl. This is the best design on mince pie I have seen to date and the largest. up close you get a strong whiff of nuts and butter crust pastry.
There were no indications of sugar content/fat or any sort of numbers. This pie was also at the special price of 0.20p an absolute bargain to the customers eye.
Taste Test
I was delightfully greeted by a nice firm and crunchy pastry incasing some fruity mince meat. Also inside were a variety of nuts including pumpkin seeds. The mince wasn't too sweet, more tangy and flavoured by cinnamon for a spicy taste.
This pie get's a 9/10 the only thing lacking was a box to put them in as once in one of those flimsy see through bags they could crack. I have now retired from mince pie tasting till next November Now to on the January weight loss program !.
